Based in Glasgow, Lewis Lowe – co-founder of Redstone Press Records alongside Pseudopolis – has been carving out his space in the Scottish and wider UK scene over the last five years.
An independent record label from the Highlands of Scotland, Redstone Press Records was born out of long nights on homegrown sound systems pushing the UK scene, with a unique northern edge that comes from the freedom and isolation felt in that part of the world. The next EP ‘XXXX’ comes courtesy of London based producer and sound designer Henry Greenleaf, and is due to for release on 22nd April.
Redstone Press hold down a regular residency on Voices Radio, and Lewis has previously guested on Rinse, Noods, Balamii, Clyde Built Radio & Radio Buena Vida. Redstone Press host regular parties at Edinburgh institute, Sneaky Petes – recently welcoming iona up for an all night long shakedown. You can catch Lewis B2B Bake all night long on 9th April, and spinning solo at Kelburn Garden Party, Riverside Festival and a few other parties yet to be announced over the summer.
Speaking on the mix, Lewis says, “I had been overthinking this mix for far too long and had a few too many ideas in mind but when it came to preparing it this fast and loose 1.5hr mix was the result. Featuring some new music from my record label Redstone Press and a load of stuff I’ve been wanting to feature in a mix for a long time, out to Tony Morris and Neuronal Writings for supplying the eerie spoken words. The mix starts slow, gets weird and ends fast. It has its moments of clarity and alternatively moments of chaos but that is quite similar to my DJing style and I wanted this mix to represent that as best as possible.”
