Playlist: 10 Years of Killekill

Based in Berlin, Killekill was founded in June 2008 by Nico Desuter (aka DJ Flush) as a weekly club night held at Berghain’s Kantine. As a way of killing his boredom, Nico showcased incredible electronic live sets alongside psychedelic visuals with artwork by Flexn. At that time Berlin was resistance to change, making it a challenging start for the Killekill brand as they brought different sounds to the city’s nightlife scene and focused on energy rather than genre. They were the misfits in the city. Running these events for nearly 2 and a half years, it was then to no-one’s surprise that the series expanded into a record label in 2011, creating a platform for the diverse artists they booked at their parties. It was a hit from the beginning with tastemakers such as Aphex Twin, Surgeon, Blawan, Perc and Luke Slater all supporting the records.

Over the last seven years Killekill has welcomed a whole host of artists to their roster including Furfriend, The Mover, UMWELT, Neil Landstrumm, Radioactive Man, Cassegrain & Tin Man, Alienata, Eomac and DJ Spider & Franklin De Costa. As you listen through the catalogue, there isn’t one distinct sound that connects each artist, it’s an attitude. This brutalist and energetic approach to their productions is what makes them Killekill artists. You have the leading figure in hardcore electro The Mover, a veteran of the UK techno and rave scene Neil Landstrumm, the industrial nature of UMWELT and mind melting acid from Cassegrain & Tin Man. Just one of the many reasons why Killekill is so special and important to Berlin’s scene, it’s the breath of fresh air the city needs.

To celebrate 10 years since the party was formed, we’ve pulled together our essential tracks from the label focusing on their core imprint.
