Untitled 909 Podcast 020: Momo

Following on from our Meet The Residents feature with some of Patterns’ finest, Momo provides the 20th edition of our podcast series. Immersing herself in the world of dance music when she moved to Brighton for university, Emily learned the skills of being a DJ with the help of Rhythm Sister’s workshops. A Momo set is genre-bending, flowing through a spectrum of sounds and style. Now with her residency at Patterns, Emily has been able to play alongside class acts such as Peach, Shanti Celeste, Lakuti, Mafalda, Joy Orbison and Eclair Fifi.

Talking about the mix, Emily says, “I wanted this mix to be focused on fun and really high energy sounds from the get-go, journeying through acid to more contemplative, mellow and lighthearted house, into some of my favourite heavy hitting club tracks. A standout moment in the mix for me is Bochum Welt – Mechanique (comes in 11:41), I love the eerie chord sequences in it and the way it builds up to its emotive ending. I recorded this mix in my bedroom on my (slightly temperamental) recorder, and everything is mixed live. Enjoy!”
