Her Damit: Doc Sleep shares her festival gems

Doc Sleep made her move to Berlin in 2016 after cutting her teeth in the DJ circuit in San Francisco’s flourishing scene. Now a resident DJ at Room 4 Resistance at ://aboutblank, Doc Sleep co-owns Jacktone Records, a home for techno, ambient, leftfield and electronic music. Releasing on the likes of Dark Entries, Discwoman/Allergy Season, Outpost, 100% Silk, Hot Mass-affiliated Detour Records, Bottom Forty and many more, whilst broadcast on cult favourite Intergalactic FM for several years. Invited to play local festival Her Damit, which has unfortunately been moved till later this summer, Doc Sleep has kindly shared her festival gems that she’s eager to play on their powerful system.

Her Damit will be throwing a free Oh Damit party at Griessmuehle this Sunday

Group Rhoda – Sea or Be Sea (Dark Entries)

Fantastic darkwave songwriter from the Bay who often releases on Dark Entries. If you have the pleasure of seeing her live, you’ll notice she plays the synth leads by hand, no sequencing. I love starting sets with her tracks – instant mood, especially when her vocals come in.

DJML – Beauty Steals (Jacktone)

This track is the musical equivalent of giving your dancers a warm, welcoming hug. Wiggly rhythms and positive vibes. TIP!

rRoxymore – bRINGTHEbRave (Timedance)

rRoxymore goes to Bristol for this release and it’s a perfect match. I’m always inspired by the interplay of her percussion with the off-kilter melodies she uses – no exception here. Perfect for those crucial early moments of a set where you’re trying to catch people’s ear.

Isabella – Cloying Traces (Jacktone)

One of the most interesting producers in the States right now. This track came out a few years ago and what I’ve always loved are the seemingly disparate elements melding together to make this absurdly fresh sound. Welder of surprise, crafter of inventive banger.

Liquid Asset – Contact (New York Trax)

The new standard in New York techno – great label, great hardware producer. I love the high skittering melody that comes in and out throughout the duration of the track, like a spaceship passing overhead.

ајс дог – 2vs (Brutaz)

Brutaz is sharing such a beautiful, singular vision with the techno world, you never know what you’re going to get in the best way. With this track, we’re knee deep in a driving, sinister sludge and functionally, it’s an ideal gateway to the kraken dimension.

Naeem – Facing Forward (Is/Was)

Naeem of Detour and Hot Mass knocked it out of the park with this one. Perfectly-executed electro journey if played at the right time in a set, induces brain melting. I find this track reveals the true rave warrior – will you hang or go get a drink at the bar?

Underground Resistance – Gamma Ray (UR).

UR laying down the alien hammer through an Ann Wilson sample – is life perfect or what.

Worker/parasite – Druid (Electric Pressure)

Killer producer from Oakland (now producing under the name Ben Versluis) – this time releasing with the homies of Electric Pressure. Absolutely bewitching squelch paired with pummeling percussion: banger – expert level.

Photonz – Aquarian Ball (One Eyed Jacks)

Hands down one of my favorite producers. When I was asked to play Her Damit, this is the first track I knew I wanted to hear on a powerful sound system in the middle of the forest – a stone cold classic at this point.
